Location: Chico, California or Hybrid
Pay Range: $140,000 – $185,000 per year
Leads assigned customer programs from opportunity and proposal support through requirements, development, prototype and pilot builds, qualification, launch, delivery, and closeout. The Technical Program Manager is the primary day-to-day coordinator among customers and Nanotech Energy’s Commercial, Application Development, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Formation, and Testing teams. This individual-contributor role owns program planning, execution visibility, risk management, and approved communications while designated commercial, technical, operational, and quality authorities retain approval rights.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Own assigned programs from RFQ and statement-of-work review through development, qualification, production launch, delivery, customer acceptance, and closeout.
• Maintain integrated schedules, milestones, requirements traceability, deliverable matrices, risks, actions, decisions, changes, budgets, and program records.
• Serve as the primary day-to-day customer contact and obtain required approval before releasing substantive commitments, reports, presentations, or responses.
• Coordinate requirements, materials, builds, inspection, formation, testing, qualification, samples, packaging, shipment, and customer documentation.
• Lead program, design, readiness, build, test, launch, and closeout reviews; assign accountable owners and escalate threatened commitments.
• Assign and track required MRP system parts, routings, specifications, work instructions, inspection content, and attachments through approval and release.
• Translate approved customer-driven targets into formal test requests without independently changing technical test intent or acceptance criteria.
• Track program spending, forecasts, nonrecurring engineering, material costs, capital needs, and financial risks within approved authority boundaries.
• Pause or escalate activity when requirements, approvals, funding, resources, safety controls, technical direction, documentation, or quality status are incomplete.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials science, chemistry, or a related field; a master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
• Seven or more years of technical program, project, product-development, customer-program, engineering, or related experience.
• Demonstrated ability to drive complex NPI programs, manage cross-functional dependencies without direct authority, evaluate technical risks, and maintain disciplined stage-gate control.
• Direct battery or other advanced regulated-product experience is strongly preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education, certification, specialized training, and directly relevant experience may be considered.
