Quality Engineer I

Position: Quality Engineer I
Location: Chico, California
Pay Range: $75,000 – $95,000 per year

Provides entry-level quality-engineering support for incoming, supplier, in-process, measurement-system, nonconformance, and manufacturing quality activities at NERD and NEMO. Under the direction of the Senior Quality Manager, the engineer applies approved inspection methods, statistical tools, problem-solving methods, and ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements to prevent defects and improve process control. The role may place suspect material on hold and stop work for immediate safety or quality concerns; disposition and release authority remain with authorized Quality leadership.

• Bachelor’s degree in quality, mechanical, chemical, materials, manufacturing, industrial, or electrical engineering, chemistry, or a related technical field.
• Zero to two years of quality, engineering, manufacturing, laboratory, inspection, or related experience; internships, co-op assignments, academic research, and capstone projects may satisfy the experience expectation.
• Foundational knowledge of incoming and in-process inspection, supplier quality, NCR/CAPA/8D, sampling, SPC, process capability, MSA, gauge R&R, PFMEA, and control plans.
• Ability to read drawings, specifications, work instructions, inspection plans, certificates, and technical records and to analyze data using Microsoft Excel or comparable tools.
• Experience with PLEX MES, ISO 9001, APQP/PPAP, Minitab, JMP, or comparable quality and statistical tools is preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education, technical training, certification, and directly relevant experience may be considered.
